Leicester Prevent

Terrorism is one of the most difficult issues that communities in our country face, and our work helping Leicester’s communities live well together includes Prevent.

Leicester Prevent - Project funding applications 2023-24

Leicester Prevent is currently inviting proposals and funding applications from groups and organisations that can support the Prevent Strategy in Leicester through the development and delivery of projects during 2023-24.

In order to apply for Prevent project funding for 2023-24 please complete the Leicester Prevent Expression of Interest (EOI) form. All funding applications need to be submitted using the EOI form otherwise they will not be considered.

Attention should be paid to local risks and issues. We are particularly keen to receive applications that focus on risks such as:

  • Al Qaeda inspired terrorism / Daesh inspired terrorism
  • Extreme right-wing terrorism
  • Online extremism
  • Self-initiated terrorism
  • Extremist travel

The deadline for applications will be 6pm on Friday 6th January 2023.

Please submit the completed form to the Leicester Prevent Coordinator at: prevent@stphilipscentre.co.uk

If you have any questions regarding the EOI process or would wish to discuss your potential project in advance of submitting your EOI please feel welcome to contact the Leicester Prevent Coordinator via the email listed above.

Prevent

Our approach is to empower people so they can challenge dangerous ideologies whenever they arise. We believe diverse communities can bring about positive change by working together on these issues.

The City Mayor of Leicester and the Home Office asked St Philip’s Centre to lead local work on the Government’s Prevent strategy because of our reputation as a centre of excellence for building understanding in multicultural communities.

We work in partnership with other groups, including the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO). Leicester’s Prevent Co-ordinator is based at our centre.

St Philip’s Centre has successfully delivered Prevent courses and mentored in secure training centres. We convene a Community Reference Group, regularly brief community stakeholders on Prevent issues and will work closely with the Home Office during the upcoming independent review of Prevent.
