The C.A.R.E. (Silver) Course is designed to:

  • Help you understand your responsibilities under the Prevent duty and be able to deal confidently with matters arising
  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of radicalisation in the name of Islam, the Neo-Nazi/extreme right wing and other extremist causes
  • Know how extremist narratives are formed, reinvented and communicated
  • Be able to identify similarities and differences in forms and methods of radicalisation
  • Have increased understanding of the forms and methods of radicalisation facing frontline workers when working with communities
  • Know about how to assess and make appropriate referrals
  • Be able to provide counter narratives
  • Have increased their knowledge of political and religiously motivated extremism
  • Have a better understanding of the varieties of schools of thought and theological interpretations within Islam
  • Understand some of the variety of cultural differences which impact on the practice of Islam and expectations of different communities
  • Be more aware of the diversity, relationships and structures within communities
