Background

St Philip’s Centre is a charity set up in 2006 with the support of the Diocese of Leicester and is rooted in the multi-faith environment of Leicester, the UK’s most ethnically diverse city. We have a superb track record of promoting positive community relations through our high quality religion and belief training, community events, charitable activities, dialogue and community engagement.

St Philip’s Centre works closely with several local and national public sector organisations including central and local government, Police and schools and colleges. We have received a number of awards in recognition of our work to build and sustain good inter faith relations. The Centre works at a national level with the Department for Communities and Local Government and Home Office and welcomes many international visitors and groups. The Archbishop of Canterbury – The Most Revd Justin Welby is our Patron.

The Centre’s objectives include:

 Equipping Christians and others to live and work in a multi faith society
 To deliver training and consultancy to public and private sector organisations and to those of other faiths, to enable them to develop faith awareness and to understand the role of faiths in society.

This vacancy relates primarily to the second objective. The Centre works with grassroots communities, religious leaders, statutory and voluntary organisations. We work in partnership with many organisations including schools and colleges, Police and local authorities. Our work is local, national and international.

St Philip’s Centre is looking to recruit an Education Officer (EO) to join our team at an exciting time when demand for our work has increased considerably. The EO will work with the Programmes Officer and Deputy Director to provide vital delivery, facilitation and support for our training and educational offer to schools, colleges and other interested parties. The EO will be expected to help the Centre grow further by attracting new training clients and working with staff to continuously help improve and diversify the range of St Philip’s Centre activities.

The appointment will be part-time (30 hours) to work Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on a one year contract and will be based at St Philip’s Centre, 2a Stoughton Drive North, Leicester LE5 5UB. Option of working 22.5 hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will be considered. The post will involve some evening and weekend work from time to time.

The gross salary is £22,500 pro rata (£18,000 for four days and £13,500 for three days per week).
