Training Youth Workers At the end of September, the St Philip’s Centre once again hosted students from St John’s Nottingham for an interfaith training day. The majority of the students are training to be children and youth workers, and we were joined for the day by the Diocesan Youth Officer Mike Kelly. We all met at Shree Sanatan Mandir in the morning to observe arti and have a talk from their president, Vibhooti Acharya. It was a wonderful visit and talk as always, with the students given plenty of time to look around and ask questions. We then returned to the St Philip’s Centre and, after lunch, were taken to Masjid Umar to observe prayers by Riaz Ravat. We were then joined by two Muslim faith practitioners, Shireen Sedat and Sumaiya Mulla, back at St Philip’s for small group discussions. The day ended with Mike Kelly leading the group in some case study work, getting them to think about how interfaith engagement could impact positively on their ministry. Many thanks to all of those involved, especially the places of worship who hosted us and faith practitioners who spent time with us.
