We were delighted to welcome Lincoln School of Theology back to Leicester for a training day last week. We accompanied them to Shree Sanatan Mandir in the morning, to observe aarti and have a talk from Heema Acharya. It was a great session, with lots of questions from the students, including what the Mandir does in terms of children’s work and great explanations from Heema about worship – for many of the students, this was their first visit to a Mandir.

We then returned to St Philip’s, where we had an engaging talk and discussion around John 14: 6 with Tom, before welcoming some guest faith practitioners to join us for the afternoon. Another excellent discussion followed with Miriam Levene from the Progressive Jewish community, particularly around issues such as anti-Semitism and Israel-Palestine. For our last discussion session, we were joined by two Muslim faith practitioners, Parvez Bhatty and Aamenah Patel – the students were split into two groups and each got time to talk with Parvez and Aamenah. The conversations were wide-ranging and engaging, and lots of laughter was heard as well!

It was great to have a group who were so engaged, asking lots of thought provoking questions. Thank you to all those involved in the day, especially our faith practitioners and Shree Sanatan Mandir.
