On Tuesday 19th March, we ran a day on interfaith relations for trainee vicars at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. The morning featured two sessions, the first on understanding Hinduism and the second on Islam. Pradip and Sumaiya, two of our experienced faith practitioners, shared their beliefs and guided the students through a reading of a portion of the Bhagavad Gita and the Qur’an. In the afternoon, we had a lively discussion of different Christian theological understandings of interfaith relations and of practical steps we can take to reach out to those around us.
The students said the most interesting part of the day was having first hand experiences of how Pradip and Sumaiya had experienced Christianity, the chance to read other people’s sacred texts and the practical guidance they received.
