On Friday 12th January, Tom Wilson was very pleased to be able to participate in a Dialogue Society round table event on the theme of responding to radicalisation. The keynote speaker was Professor Bob Allison of Loughborough University, who set out a compelling vision of his desire to ensure that Loughborough is a University which welcomes people wherever they are from, whoever they are, provided that they are keen to learn how to live well together with others. He spoke of the importance of public leaders standing up for the values which they hold dear, the need for leaders to set an appropriate tone and challenge unhealthy behaviour of any sort and universities that produce people who are able to question established orthodoxies and encourage progress. There followed a stimulating discussion of what the different organisations represented could do to make a positive difference for the good of all.
