On the evening of Thursday 6th September, a group from St Philip's Centre travelled to Blackfordby School to run an interfaith roadshow for members of North west Leicester Deanery Synod. Just under forty members of the Synod gathered to learn more about Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism. The evening began with Tom introducing the different faith practitioners, which allowed him to ask our Muslim faith practitioner how she found herself a speaker at the Greenbelt Christian festival a few weeks ago. Each person explained how to give a greeting from their faith tradition and explained some of the artefacts they had brought with them. There followed a time for engagement and discussion, which was very lively, although sadly no one was able to blow the shofar. Feedback was very positive and we hope to take the roadshow to other deanery synods in 2019 as we continue helping people to learn how to live well together.
