John McCallum East Midlands Near Neighbours Coordinator is available to discuss project application proposals in Leiceter and Nottingham for Grants of £250 to £5,000 for 6 months of activity.

The Context

  • Near Neighbours is funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and the Church Urban Fund. It is open to all faiths and ethnicities
  • Designed to bring people together who are near neighbours in communities that are religiously and ethnically diverse, so that they can get to know each other better, build relationships of trust, and collaborate together on initiatives that improve the local community they live in.
  • Since 2011 over 1,700 projects have been supported across England and £5.5 million of grants disbursed with over 1 million people benefiting
  • Key criteria requires a project to apply for revenue costs to work with very localised neighbours, involve at least 2 differing faiths and deliver multiple events for up to 6 months
  • An emergent un-constituted group may apply as long as they have an established group to hold funds for them
