Our first Schools' Roadshow of the new academic year took place on 18 September at Morvern Park Primary School, Kirkby in Ashfield and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the school.

The teachers' organisation of their respective classes was very impressive so that no time was wasted in getting the pupils circulating around the room and meeting our faith practitioners, but it was the pupils themselves who were the stars of the show: all of our faith practitioners commented on the interest shown by the children and of the good questions which were asked. As ever, the clothing stall proved to be very popular – the children always like to see ‘Miss’ dressed in a sari - and the children proved to be very adventurous when it came to sampling the Asian snack foods.

Prior to the Roadshow we had given a lot of thought to setting the right atmosphere with ‘sounds and smells’ that the pupils would experience as soon as they entered the room. Clearly we got that right since two teachers commented that ‘we should burn incense every day since it calms the children down so much’.

This was a great start to our new season of Roadshows and it was a real privilege to see the impact which our faith practitioners made with a group of wonderful, courteous and friendly children.
